Plumbers and gasfitters local 8
The staff and instructors at the Plumbers and Gasfitters Local 8 Training Center are committed to providing the newest and most advanced training in the industry. Our instructors have a minimum of 10 years experience in the field before they can apply to become an instructor. We feel that between the classroom training, the hands on training and the on-the-job training an apprentice receives, those who complete our 5 year program are the best in the industry. We also offer continuing education for our Journeypersons, such as Backflow and Medical Gas recertifications and welding certifications, at no cost to the member.
We have been protecting the health of Kansas City for over 125 years, since 1890. Our training and expertise is next to none. Our members continually further their education and upgrade their skills within our changing industry. We began our related classroom training in the mid 1930's. Our apprentices are required to have a minimum of 240 hours of classroom training and 1750 hours of on-the-job training every year before moving on to the next level of training.
